FIVE ELEMENTS OF VASTU

62 Five Elements copy.jpg

The universe is believed to be made up of five fundamental elements: fire, water, earth, air, and space. Similarly, our bodies are also composed of these same five elements. When there is an imbalance of these elements in our bodies, it can lead to illness. In the same way, when a building has an imbalance of these elements, it can become uncomfortable for its occupants. To live a healthy life, it's important to have a balance of these elements. Vastu Kundli helps in achieving this balance in a building, making it harmonious for the people living in it.

According to Vastu, the universe is filled with positive energies that we need to harness and balance to experience well-being. These energies come from two sources: the five elements and the electromagnetic energy generated by the Earth's rotation. Earth is the third planet among the nine in our solar system and the only one known to support life due to the presence of these panchbhootas (Five Elements). Sun, air, and space are available everywhere and can be shaped to suit human needs through design. To grasp how these five elements are used in design, let's briefly discuss each element separately.

WATER

Water, or "Jal," is all over the Earth in different forms like rain, oceans, seas, and rivers. In Vastu, it's the second most important thing. Vastu gives you guidelines about where to put water stuff in your home to keep things in harmony.

AIR

Air (Vayu) is another important element in Vastu. It's made up of different gases like oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and other gases we need to breathe and live. To keep us healthy, we need the right mix of these gases, the right air pressure, and humidity.

In Vastu, it is very important to place windows and doors so that we get a good amount of fresh air inside. This fresh air is super important for our well-being.

FIRE

Fire (Agni) is considered as the element that's connected to the southeast. Light is like the heart of life, and the sun is where we get light from. Fire is what makes things work, like power plants and even the sun's energy. It's important to have good windows and openings to let sunlight in because it's the natural light source we need.

EARTH

Earth (Prithvi) is the most important element of nature, and it has a lot of power. When you plan to buy land, you have to be really careful. Everything about the land, like the type of soil and area, is important in Vastu. Picking the right place for your building is very important. Before you start building, you need to look closely at the soil, the land, the shape, and the size.

SPACE

The sky is vast and never-ending. It's full of constellations, galaxies, stars, the moon, the sun, and all the nine planets. The universe is also called "Brahamand," which is like the home of the divine God. Space is a very important part of our lives, and Vastu gives us guidelines to make the most of it.

In our daily lives, we face lots of environmental challenges that can lead to various physical and mental health issues that are hard to avoid. To have a healthy home, we need to be in harmony with our surroundings, find peace in our spirits, and ensure good health for ourselves. These ideas go way back in human history and are found in the ways people build their homes in different cultures around the world.
